A Board of Supervisors is the governing body overseeing a second class township in the state of Pennsylvania. The Supervisors that make up the board are the elected representatives that assert the will of the people by providing guidance to township staff on the direction the people wish to take; whether that be modifying ordinances (local laws), changes of tax rate, priority of various projects, or development plans to approve/deny.

Here in Silver Spring Township, the Board of Supervisors meets on the last Wednesday of the month (with rare exceptions). Their calendar may be found here, and their agendas and minutes here. I highly encourage attendance, as it is the best way to stay informed about what is happening in the township and what is coming down the pipeline in terms of new development and changes to our laws. The more vigilant citizens are, the less likely it is that we will be surprised but an unpopular decision.
